Icon of Saint Apostle Andrew

A piece of noble sobriety, in which iconographic tradition meets refined workshop execution. The Saint Apostle Andrew is rendered in sculptural relief, in a vertical posture, with the cross in his right hand and the Gospel in his left, evoking the compositional canons of the late Byzantine schools.

The figure is made of silver-plated copper, with a satin finish that accentuates the volumes and renders the subtlety of the facial expression. The ample drapery, treated with an almost topographical precision, gives the work a silent gravity, specific to pre-modern sacred art.

The dark cherry velvet background enhances the contrast between metal and textile, amplifying the contemplative aura of the composition. The frame is crafted from natural oak wood, toned and hand-brushed, in a dark finish, with faceted edges reminiscent of votive panels from centuries past.
