Icon of the Holy Venerable Oleg, Prince of Bryansk
This exceptional composition brings together the tradition of sacred art with decorative details of rare sophistication. The figure of Saint Pious Oleg, depicted in bust register, dominates the center of the work with a solemn expressiveness and a calm verticality, features accentuated by the hand-made oil painting, on a finely chiseled metallic background.
The gold-plated halo adds a touch of noble light to the composition, in subtle contrast to the engraved silver-plated copper background. The composition is enriched with meticulously mounted Bohemian crystals, which provide discreet points of brilliance, inspiring an association with the precious marquetry of the 17th–18th centuries.
The frame is made of solid oak, with ornamental metal inserts in the corners, emphasizing the character of a ceremonial piece. The icon is protected by a glass front panel, mounted on discreet hinges – a presentation worthy of private collections with a museum vocation.
